Mr. Harmon is a life-long resident of North College Hill and attended the public schools from kindergarten through his graduation from North College Hill High School in 1956. In high school he was a four sport athlete participating in football, baseball, basketball and track; earning fourteen varsity letters. He was inducted into the North College Hill High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986.
Ron was elected to the Board of Education in 1982 and stood for election eight additional times serving on the Board for 33 years. He was president of the Board for many years and served on the Great Oaks Board of Education for more than twenty years.
Throughout his life Mr. Harmon has been very involved in his community. He established and provided support for community programs for youth in basketball, soccer, track and field, cross country, baseball and softball. He served as the Recreation Director in North College Hill for six years and is also remembered for the summer programs for youth that he ran in Betts Park.
His love of athletics led him to become an OHSAA licensed soccer and basketball official. He served as a referee in high school and college for over forty years.
Mr. Harmon retired from Proctor and Gamble in 1999 after working there for 31.5 years as a senior research associate.
